Banner?

On the proboards support site, under 'Get Opinions About Your Board', someone mentioned that our banner may be too dull. I was looking for your guys' opinion on this matter. The problem is, I color-schemed this board based off of the banner. So that might be a problem if we wanted a more jazzy one. :/ Your thoughts? Should we get a new one?

I actually really like the banner. I think it may seem dull because it is focus on landscape. If a new banner were to be made, having a character or two interact inside the banner would spice it up a bit. They also may be looking at websites where there is a heavy use of vectors and brushes, something that I enjoy in my graphics as well but not so much for a banner of a site.

I would suggest that if we kept the current banner you might can make a 3-D one by having the peak of the mountain top come out of the 4 corners or something like that. Wish I had photoshop (getting it in a month oh yeah! The PS version though not adobe ) or else I would be on top of this.

I love the banner, personally. While people may say it's 'dull' I think it's pretty and mysterious. I do agree, though, that maybe having some people in it would make it a bit more interesting. But personally, I love the one we have now.

Okay, thank you all for your thoughts! From what you've said, I'll keep the current banner, but I could attempt to add some people in at some point. Ideas? I have photoshop and could easily get some people in.

frankly, it's difficult to make a banner about a village roleplay not look dull. the only reason why it looks dull is because it does not conform to the banners amongst a lot of sites that take place in the present day. while compared to those it seems a little plain, it's because if we added those attributes in present-day roleplay banners, it wouldn't look very much like a village roleplay taking place in the past.

therefore, i will conclude that it does look somewhat simple, but to make it look more happening we would have to do something creative about the latter so that it would still look like a village roleplay banner.

Based off what Nik has stated, I would then suggest that perhaps you can have a particular setting that you in vision represents Kincho well and have a person walking away from the screen (so that we see their back). Have the title of the forum either on the back or in the same position as you do now. This will "modernize" it a bit while still keeping the village roleplayish feel.

I like that idea. Whenever I have the time to do a new skin, I will try that. It will take some time to find the right images, but with enough time I can do it. Right now, I don't want to go and create a whole new skin theme. I also don't have the time I would need. Maybe near spring break.
