Rhylir Alerin Tonalsin
basic info;
Name: Rhylir Alerin Tonalsin
Gender: Male
Age: 18
Upper or Lower: Lower
Birth date: March 15th
looks;
Height:6’1”
Weight:160lbs
Weapon?: A strong, well-made bow that is even better than some of the ones that young men from the higher social class might possess. Needless to that was bought by Rhylir’s father, Gareth, by selling an extra horse in a time of trouble. He realized that a bow would be an investment as his son, who was a natural talent could hunt game.
Appearance:
Rhylir is a handsome young man, his body lean and muscled from a life of hard work, and periods without the fatty foods that those with money can afford. Like most of the lower class, his skin is tanned because of the constant need to be out in the sun working. It’s not the bronze tan of someone who lays out in the sun for luxury, but the tan of a man who has worked in the fields when the sun is at its hottest.
Rhylir’s hair is a rustic red-brown color with blond highlights in the front. He has a small amount of stubble on his chin, that he tries to shave when he can but often times he is more than content to just allow it to grow as it will. The teenager’s neck is tattooed with an intricate pattern that circles around his entire neck. The markings are traditional to the Tonalsin family. According to legends passed down throughout the Tonalsin family, warriors tattooed themselves at the onset of manhood. Perhaps his most interesting feature are his eyes. They are a solid grey, a feature that he inherited from his maternal grandmother, Deidrena, who was rumored to be part-faerie.(Which of course isn’t true, but it gives the villagers something to do other than focus on their misery).
His clothes are simple he wears leather from the cows that his family has raised and uses it to make armor. He also managed to trade meats with the local blacksmith in exchange for him studding the armor with scraps of metal that his apprentice had been using simply for practice. As a result there are several studs in his left shoulder pad that have noticeably fallen out. However, it gets his job done and makes those snobbish upper class thugs and those bandits that lurk in the forests think twice about trying him.
acting;
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Occupation?: Hunter/Gatherer
Personality: Rhylir can often be misinterpreted to be a cold and uncaring person, when actually it is quite the opposite. His quiet disposition and unwillingness to stay around and chat is fueled by his desire to provide for his family. He is focused on surviving from day to day, and with younger siblings to take care of he’s got his hands full.
While not particularly smart in the academic sense, he has a very hard time reading but can do it if he breaks it down. Though he would never let anyone know his limited literacy, he prefers to think that he is much better at knowing the different herbs and plants of the forests. Even at a young age he is an expert tracker and marksmen, though admittedly poor with traps.
To his friends, he is a protector and an older brother figure to all the lower class kids. He likes to think that a lot of the villagers look up to him, so he tries his best to help out others when he can, always willing to trade or sell the game he’s managed to collect. But if there’s one thing that’s understood in the slums: worrying about the families of others can put yours one step closer to the grave.
life;
Parents?:Gareth and Arieniel
Siblings?:two brothers and one sister, he’s the oldest
Pets?:None, they couldn’t afford to keep the various pets that the children have brought home over the years.
History: Life is hard in the lower section of the city. But not when you've got the love and support which are foundations for happiness in its own right. And that was the exact environment that Rhylir was born into, on a spring day. His father had been a farmer his entire life, as had his father before him, and so on and so forth. His father worked hard to provide the quaint thatched cottage and sizeable plot of farming land for raising crops and a few cows and chickens (and sometimes pigs if they're lucky). Gareth was well respected among the villagers who made up the lower class, and he refused to be the object of pity that many upper class citizens expected him to be.
It was that attitude that guided Rhylir throughout his childhood, his father was strict, but not unkind, and taught him as much as he knew about the different plants, herbs, and crops. Rhylir was eager to learn, and quite liked school at an early age but the increasing size of their family caused his parents to have to withdraw him so he could do full time chores.
Around the time that Rhylir was ten or so, his father noticed him setting up targets and hitting them dead-on with a basic slingshot he had whipped up together. It got Gareth thinking and used one of their extra horses to obtain money to not only make some much needed expansions to their tiny cottage, but also he brought home a bow for Rhylir. Of course it'd be absurd to think that the little boy could string a man's bow so his father set about making him practice bows with which he practiced until around the age of fourteen, when he was given the full size bow. By then he was an excellent marksman and had already proved to be a substantial help to his family due to the money he earned from his hunting trips in the forest.
And so he continued in much the same way, living with his parents. Although he is beginning to feel as though he needs to get out from under his parents roof, settle down, and start thinking seriously about a family. There's got to be something better out there...but for right now the only reality is an empty stomach and the twang of his bowstring.
