The night was cool, the only light came from the moon hanging in the black sky overhead. No wind blew, it was perfectly still and perfectly quiet. A lone figure was crouched low, crawling down the street. To anybody not looking closely, they wouldn't have seen this strange sight. For over his body was a black cloak, blending perfectly in with the night. Slowly making his way past rows of overly large houses, the figure couldn't help but start to grin from under his hood. The particular home he had in sight was nearing closer and closer, his excitement grew with every crawl.
When he finally reached his destination, the boy rolled behind a row of bushes to avoid being seen from the people inside. Even though the possibility of that was super slim, this was the one time when he actually practiced caution. From behind the bushes he slowly made his way towards the back of the house. For a few days he had been checking out this place, looking for the perfect way to enter and exist. The staking out had paid off too, he had found his entrance. Once he had gotten into the back area, he looked around to spot his special entrance. There! A large oak tree with high branches stood next to the house. Running over without making a sound, the boy pulled out a rope from a small sack on his back. Heaving back he tossed one end up and over the shortest branch, which happened to be seven or eight feet high. Far too high for him to jump. The other end of the rope came down and he pulled it tight to make sure it would hold him. Grabbing one end of the rope in each hand, the figure started to walk up the tree. Higher and higher he went, until he was able to hoist himself up onto the branch. Panting heavily, he shoved the rope back into the bag and started climbing the branches until he was level with a window. Reaching once again into the cloth bag, the boy pulled out a white machete and worked on cranking open the window.
Finally after he was able to open the window, the figure clambered soundlessly inside. The house was dark and everything was silent, just as it should be. The hood over the boy's head fell off, revealing a mass of red hair and green eyes that practically glowed with joy. The boy was Ryuu; he was at it again. Stealing that is. With his bag slung over his shoulder and the clock covering everything but his head, Ryuu made his way to the lower floor. Now the main question was, what to take? As he crouched around and examined all of the belongings, Ryuu was almost completely oblivious to the sound of approaching footsteps. Casually he began shoving valuable looking items such as silver cups and glass figurines into his bag. It wasn't until the footsteps were almost upon him that Ryuu noticed them. Grabbing what looked to be a golden fork, he spun around just in time to come face to face with another boy. Giving a guilty grin he raised his hands into a shrugging position. It was like he was wordlessly saying, “Oops! You got me!”

Even through the gloom of the dark, a candle light sat flickering on a side table. The flame danced, giving some sort of comfort, and the moon shined its lazy beam into the silent room. Curling into a tighter ball, Daichi buried his face into his pillow, breathing in the clean smell. It was one of those nights where he couldn't fall asleep not matter how hard he tried. Peering up, he watched the small light, following its movements with his eyes. Slowly he shuffled a hand out of the swarm of blankets, his fingers getting dangerously close. Without notice, the flame bounced forward, tickling Daichi's finger. He gasp loudly, pulling back his hand and gritting his teeth. Takia had always reminded him not to play with fire. It seemed for that moment, those words went right out the door. Ha- he could care less about what Takia or Teiko said. It was all none sense anyways. The same talk, the same phrases. 'Be careful with the lower class.' 'Don't mess with fire.' 'Remember what fire did?' Blah, blah, blah, why couldn't they just shut up? Daichi looked away, breathing out a deep sigh. His life was so silly now, a dramatic comedy. It pissed him off none the less.
There was a thump, not very loud, but loud enough to be heard from his room. He sat up prompting his elbows against his pillow. "Takia, is that you?" There was no reply. Daichi looked to his side where Teiko was soundlessly asleep. He frowned. If it wasn't Takia or Teiko, who could it be? Daichi quietly eased his way of the bed, in hopes that it wouldn't wake his sister. He sucked in a breath as she squirmed a bit, then rested back down. He carefully tip toed his way to his wooden cabinet, opening it lightly, just enough so he could reach in and grab his robe. When that was done and it was fit quite comfortably, Daichi reached for his dusty baseball bat, swinging it over his shoulders. He crept out of his room, his face tense with concentration. His heart started to beat rapidly. Unlike Takia, Daichi wasn't sure how to handle a break in. He could always call for Takia, but Takia was on the other side of the house. The only way to get to his room was through where the thump came from. He bit his lip, clenching the baseball bat harder till his knuckles bled white. He slowly made his way down the stairs and cursed slightly under his breath as he rounded the corner.
Instead of a grown man or woman like he expected, there sat a boy around his age or so, holding one of Daichi's forks, shrugging. Daichi arched an eyebrow in confusion. What was this boy doing in his house? The person was dressed in all black, unusual, very strange indeed. "What are you doing here? Did Vancounv let you in?" He asked forcefully, gripping the baseball bat tighter. Vancouv was the old door man that let guest come in with Takia's permission. It seemed recently he wasn't following orders. That old bastard, he was probably drinking, letting this boy in. He stepped closer, raising the bat higher. "Who are you? Do you want to meet with my brother? If not, they why must you be here?" He kept pressing the questions, each time stepping closer and closer. It was till the point where Daichis foot meet the bag did he stop. His blue eyes searched the kid's and he drew in another breath. Lower class. By the look of how his hair flopped and the clothes he wore, it was obvious. Only a fool wouldn't recognize. He leaned forward murmuring, "By God, what in bloody hell is a lower class person doing here?" Daichi wrinkled his nose, as if in disgust, but really he was in awe. This kid was amazingly cunning if he broke into their house, if. He titled his head to the side, sitting down in front of the boy. His hand reached up, grabbed the lower class's wrist. Squeezed it tightly, set the baseball bat down, then casually grabbed the golden fork. "You know, stealing is wrong." He kept his voice down, a deep frown set on his face. "And if you don't want my brother coming after you, I suggest you keep your voice down as well."
It was certainly strange for Daichi to be momentarily kind. But it was one of those nights where he was too tired to complain. Too tired to be stubborn. Too tired to call for help. So he made do with this fake person. A mask to cover his loneliness. A very comfortable mask really; it fit him quite nicely.

It was the strangest thing, though he had been caught in the act- it wasn't the first time, either- he wasn't afraid at all. Ryuu was calm and collected, his old silly self. He laughed at the boy's expressions and at the fact that he first though Ryuu was let in by some person.
“Oh yes,” he snickered. “That old guy let me in, I'm here to meet with your brother! More like, I'm here to meet with your brother's fancy stuff,” he said, twisting the fork around in his fingers. He probably should have gotten the hell out of there when he had the chance, and that was as soon as the boy had appeared. But as they said, curiosity killed the cat. And Ryuu was the cat. He was just too curious. His luck in escaping was sure to run out sometime or another.
Once the kid had finished looking him over, he let out a long gasp. Oh yes, the same reaction he always got. The one that made Ryuu want to laugh until he cried. 'What in the world is a lower class doing in my house!'. It was if they couldn't get over the fact that Ryuu had actually snuck in. That someone of his stature couldn't possibly be smart enough to steal from right under their very noses! For after all, he was only a lower class kid!
“Oh bloody hell!” he mocked in a sarcastic tone. “Maybe he's not here to take my stuff!” Offering another stupid grin, Ryuu adjusted the black cloak around his body so that it wouldn't slip off. The kid in front of him grabbed his wrist and snatched the fork from his grasp. Ryuu jerked his hand away, annoyed. That fork would have been worth a fortune. Sitting down, the other boy made the most idiotic remark he possibly could have. Ryuu tried to resist the snicker rising up in his throat, but he couldn't.
“Oh yeah,” he said hostility but in a more quiet tone as to not wake the brother. “Well neither is starving.”
Ryuu should have pondered a bit before plopping down before the stranger, but of course he didn't. Though at least he wasn't a total idiot, and kept his hand near the bag where his machete was concealed. Grinning from ear to ear, Ryuu's eyes shone in the moonlight. Whatever happened tonight, it wouldn't be a thieving experience that he would soon forget!

Daich didn't even smile at this boys comments. They weren't funny, they were annoying, very. His eyebrow arched farther up. "I see, well Vancouvis pretty stupid no?" He could faintly hear the sarcasm in this boys voice. Maybe if he played long enough with him, Takia would surely wake up and find them there. Yes, it sounded like a plan, a very very god plan. He smiled warily, an almost smug look upon his face. Just 'cause he was an upper class meant nothing. He could easily be as sly as this kid, maybe even more. Daichi narrowed his eyes at him, saying gruffly, "Not that I would expect you to steal something." He shook his head, clicking his tongue in frustration. He had no idea how to be social, nether less answer or reply to simple questions. "Yeah? Starving may be bad, but you could have asked. I'm sure my brother would be happy to oblige." He said, sighing lightly. Watching as the boy placed his hand on its bag, Daichi immediately set his palm on the cool surface of the bat. If this kid was ready to fight, then he too would be. But he suddenly realized that the bat wouldn't stand a chance next to this kids "toy." That boy was lower class, which meant he was probably more trained to fight, and to carry around a sharper weapon. A lump was caught in his throat, and he fore fully swallowed. If only his bow and arrow was here right now, it would make things hell of a lot easier. "So, what's your name?" Daichi asked, trying to act the lease bit friendly. It killed him, really did.
Thinking seemed odd at this time, but that's what Daichi did do. He thought about how this could be his last night. Questions began rolling through his head. How would Takia fare? How would his sister and older brother react? He suddenly felt sick to the stomach, yet his face was stone hard. Besides, if this outsider decided to attack, Daichi wasn't going down with out a fight.

Ryuu laughed loudly, then quickly covered him mouth. He was being too loud, and if he didn't wish for this boy's older brother to come down, then he had to be more quiet. Of course, the kid in front of him wasn't stupid enough to just sit here and talk. He was stalling. Ryuu could tell, but then this kid intrigued him. So instead of being smart and high-tailing it out of there, he continued to sit.
“Oh of course,” Ryuu snickered. “I'll just knock on your door and ask your brother for money! I'm super he would be happy to give us some!” He chuckled some more before his face became serious. “We don't take charity and even if we did no upper class is going to give us any money. My family doesn't even have it the worst. A few houses down there's a couple with ten kids; one of their little boys died from hunger last week. With the state their in, I doubt it will be their last death. But then none of you give a damn. Let us die out, for all you care!” Ryuu finished, throwing his hands up in the air. His normally happy expression was grave; thinking about the pain and loss his class went through while this family ate from golden forks. This is why he stole. It wasn't one bit fair.
With his hand still on his bag, Ryuu looked the boy up and down, pondering on whether to say his name or not. He could lie. Like, what if this boy decided to track him down? And his family? Yes, most of his siblings were trained to fight, but his wish had been that they never needed to use those skills. Biting his lip in hard thought, Ryuu was lost in consideration. Finally, he said, “I'll tell you my name if you first tell me yours.” That was not very clever, of course. What did this boy have to protect? To him, there was no harm in telling his name. Ryuu was already in his house, for crying out loud! The only comfort he had was that at least that bought him some time. Now, how to get out of this house safely...
