Okay, that was a lie. He use to love coming to the harbor to watch his dad work; however, those days are behind him. Ever since that man just left, he scarcely could be found here. He only actually came when there was nothing else to do but think. Think about the life he had up until then and up until now.
The boy tightened his hand around the worn leather leash that connected to the old collar worn around a rather large dog's neck. The canine's head reached a bit past the boy's waist, if it gives you an idea on how tall he was. The mutt sent a sympathetic glance at its master, already feeling the mixed emotions that swarmed around the young teen. "Let's go..."
At those two words, the dog instantly started tugging on the leash, causing the blueish-black haired boy to quicken his pace. The bad thing about being a small boy walking a large dog was that the dog walked him instead of vice versa. The pair made their way down the wooden deck of the harbor, and the boy's cerulean eyes swept over the boats docked there as if searching for something. Or someone. Oz scoffed at the idea. It was a pointless one. That man never came back. And, on the very rare occasion he did, he never spoke to his father. There was no point to it.
Ozwald was brought out of his thoughts when Wolfgang suddenly halted, a thick, heavy 'wroof' coming from the mutt's vocals. Confusion formed on the boy's face until he realized that they were standing at the edge of the harbor. Destination reached. He sighed, running his free hand through his hair, careful not to displace his eye patch. Oz plopped down on the edge of the wooden harbor, allowing his legs to swing back and forth as he gazed out at the sea. Wolfgang sat down as well, and the dog now seemed to be taller than the boy. Oh, how fun.

Ryuu Shibata ... The harbor, a wondrous place, at least according to Ryuu. Though it wasn't as exciting as the alleys or as welcoming as his home, this place was special. Maybe it was something about the clear, foamy waves that sloshed up onto the deck's legs. Or perhaps it was the seagulls that soared above in perfect circles. Whatever it happened to be, the harbor always felt like home.
A thick, salty breeze picked up and ruffled Ryuu's red hair. It would have been all up in his eyes if it weren't for a piece of light green cloth tied around his head. Swinging his arms and humming a joyful tune, Ryuu strode across the dock's wooden planks. With his green eyes closed, he let the sun bake his freckle-splashed face. His hands were in the pockets of his tan pants and his white machete was slung over his back in a simple leather holder. Ryuu look just like any other lower class child you may see.
The short boy quickly reached the end of the dock, and his bright eyes opened just in time to avoid a nasty collision with another small boy sitting at the end. An already large smile somehow grew even wider. Company at last! Without any warning he simply plopped himself down by the stranger, offering his hand for a shake in an overly exaggerated gesture. The reason he was so friendly? A: he was very much bored. B: this boy was also obviously from the lower class. Never would Ryuu act this way towards an upper snob. Giving the large, black dog beside the new kid a little glance, Ryuu spoke. “Hullo! How might you be? The name's Ryuu! What's yours?”
To most people, well, almost all, this sudden introduction and appearance would seem strange. Unnerving even. But in Ryuu's mind, nothing was wrong with it. He saw the boy, he was lonely, and so he introduced himself in a friendly way. What was wrong with that? Starting to swing his legs over the dock, Ryuu gazed out into the never-ending blue sea.

How long had he been sitting there, exactly? He couldn't tell, but it probably wasn't too long. How he knew? The sun's position in the sky hadn't moved too much. A low growl rumbled next to him, thus causing the boy to spare a glance at the mutt.
Now, what was he growling at? His unspoken question was soon answered when another boy decided to sit down next to him. Great. Oz placed his hand on Wolfgang's muzzle, which successfully ceased the dog's growling. The boy cringed when the red hed began talking. He just scoffed at the hand that was extended, not really caring if he seemed rude or not.
Great, now they were on to names? He might as well make an attempt to not sound like those annoying rich people who lived on the other side of town. "Ozwald. And, I'm perfectly fine." The boy kept his cerulean gaze locked on the ocean, never once having it switch to one of the living beings on either side of him. A dog on one side, and a human boy on the other. Just great. He was fine with the dog, but not so much with the red head. Anti-social much?

Ryuu Shibata ... As the boy scoffed at his outreached hand, Ryuu's smile faltered for a split second. He didn't like when people had no sense of humor or friendliness. But his face returned to it's natural grin and his mood brightened just as quickly as it had been damped. Just to show that he wasn't bothered by the rude rejection; he slapped the kid on the back for fun, knowing it would make the other rather uncomfortable. He let out a long, merry laugh that rang out over the rolling waves.
“Ozwald, eh?” He giggled to himself, thinking about the absurdity of the name. “Well, Ozwald, you got yourself some personality!” He laughed again and leaned back so that his back was on the dock and his hands were behind his head, but his legs were still left swinging over the edge. “I like your dog, Oz,” he proclaimed, changing the boy's name to sound less silly. “He reminds me a bit of my own. Protective and all, ya know?” Another large gust of wind blew back Ryuu's hair, giving him the look of a crazed person. His wide smile and dancing eyes just added to his strange appearance.
