Ryuu softly chuckled at the mention of siblings. He sure had his, all right. "Yeah, I saw the two boys come in. I assumed that they were your brothers. As for my family, I've got a lot of siblings- six to be exact." His smile stretched across his face, the way it usually did when the subject of his siblings came up. Ryuu loved to see the expressions of other people when he told them the size of his family. While there were some families larger than his in the lower, most averaged at around three to five. "Let’s see, from oldest to youngest. There’s me, of course, and then two of my brothers: Ritsu and Aki, a sister: Mika, another brother: Sho, and then the twins Keiko and Kyo. We also have a dog: Jun, and my parents. A very big household! Many mouths to feed..” He leaned back a bit further in his chair, eye twinkling with laughter and the subject of laughing. ”Ah, I would hate that. ‘Specially if I were hiding out, and then started to hiccup. Must be embarrassing, eh? And very much so when it’s a real serious moment.” He started to quietly laugh, but his laugh was cut short when the chair began to slowly wobble and tip back even further. A cloud of breath clogged his throat up and his heart stopped in mid-beat. Lurching himself forward, Ryuu just barely saved himself from a nasty fall. Thud. The chair’s four legs landed safely back on the ground. Phew. His breath was freed from his throat and came rushing out in a loud puff. ”Woah, that was close!” he gasped out. ”I nearly had a heart attack!”

X raised her eyebrows, "Brothers? Fel is a girl, Daniel's the brother." she resisted the urge to laugh, and occupied herself with picking up the teacups and tossing them into the sink. They made loud Clink! sounds, but they didn't break. X listened to him list his family members. "Quite a big family you have there. And you're the oldest; must be hard, being responsible of so many little ones." she commented, nodding. Thank God she only had two to watch. And a dog, but Melody was a hunter: she caught her own food, so X only fed her when she looked hungry, or in the winter when there wasn't much prey.
As she expected, X watched as Ryuu fell, making a move to catch the chair before it hit the ground. Ryuu stiooed himself from hitting the ground, though, so she relaxed, sitting down again. "Are you alright?" she queried, a small chuckle hinting her voice. "Sorry, I probably should've warned you not to do that. I used to do the same thing when I was younger, I knocked myself unconscious once." a faint smile touched her lips. "That chair's pretty evil, you might want to switch before it tries to eat you this time." That was X's horrible joke of the day. She really had to work on her humor, before her jokes started to offend someone or something.

A mortified gasp escaped from Ryuu and his cheeks turned the color of cherries. "I-I," he stammered out. "I just saw the two run by! I'm sorry! She was a blur, and I guess I mistook her for a boy.. I'm so sorry!" After he had suffered through his embarrassment, and the topic of his own family popped up again, Ryuu began to relax. "Eh, it's a little rough at times, but most of often it's not bad. They're fun- not annoying. The problem is my parents- they want me to do everything! Not my siblings, even Ritsu hardly gets any work compared to what they expect of me. They don't even know the half of what I do- and yet they can't stop complaining about how I bring nothing to the table! Most of our meals are provided by me!" He huffed angrily and crossed his arms. His red hair stuck out like porcupine quills- adding to the enraged look. "Ha, yea', I'm fine. I just keep getting myself hurt here today, don't I?" he smiled and the look of anger faded away. ”But woah! You knocked yourself unconscious with this thing? Golly..” he walked over to another part of the table and plopped himself down in a different chair. ”Was anybody around when that happened?” Ryuu wasn’t an idiot; he noticed the lack of parents around here. However, he wasn’t a tattle-tale nor was he going to be nosy in this matter. Many families around here were run by teens or young-adults- and even though it was against the law, almost nobody in the lower class would stoop low enough to rat out a group of children to the upper people.

Beginning to chuckle, X waved it off, "Hey, don't worry about it. I doubt Fel heard you, so I don't think she'll mind. It's kinda surprising, though; she doesn't have short hair or anything." she mused, her soft voice filled with amusement. He's quite quick to apologize. she though humorously, leaning back in her seat. It was quite obvious that she had relaxed quite a bit over the course of the entire conversation; she definitely wasn't nearly as tense and cautious as she had been earlier. It took a lot to calm her down, so this boy sure was working wonders here.
She listened to him rant, nodding. She knew how he felt... kinda. But when the conversation of who was there when she hurt herself, all comedy was automatically erased from the room. After a pause, X spoke. Her voice was extremely quiet, barely audible, "Yeah, Mother was still here. Father was too." Suddenly, X didn't look like the older, stronger teenager she tried so hard to look like in front of others. Now, she looked more like a small child. An innocent, sad, small child, "Actually, it was a few days before they left." Her voice wavered, showing that she was trying as hard as she could not to cry.
God, she hated this. She was supposed to be the one who was strong. It was Fel and Daniel who could get upset about it, not her. She wasn't supposed to be the one to get sad about it. Angry, sure, but not sad. X wasn't allowed to cry; there were so many others in the Lower area who were going through the same thing. So why was she crying? X hated feeling sorry for herself. No, stupid! Not in front of him! Not in front of anyone, what are you doing? Stop it! Stop, stop! she looked away from Ryuu, not wanting him to see her crying.

‘Left’? What kind of ‘left’ did she mean? As in dead or as in, they went away? Curiosity got ahold of Ryuu, but he wasn’t about to ask and make matters worse than they were. Ryuu’s eyes softened a bit- he did feel bad for the girl. Sympathy wasn’t his strong suit though, and while feeling bad he also started to feel stuffy and twitchy. Whenever people cried or the mood took a downfall, he felt itchy all over and got a sudden urge to run from the room and into the fresh air. Fighting the urge, however, he cleared his throat and spoke an awkward, ”There, there,” followed by a short pat on the back- just as awkward. Just as sympathy wasn’t a strong trait, neither was comforting people. There was pause before he could find words, ones that he heard a lot of whenever people got upset, ”Uh.. If you want to.. talk about it you can.” Ryuu scratched his red mess of hair and adjusted his green headband a bit- anything to keep himself busy. His fingers itched to tap themselves on the table, but for once a little bit of knowledge kicked in and told him that would be a rude thing to do.
